Ethics and Professional Standards
interPres is dedicated to the highest principles of professional practice and adhere to the Code of Ethical Standards and Professional Practice as stated herein and as imposed by the SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors). Our Mission Statement declares that the “Mission of interPres” is to build enduring relationships with, and deliver exceptional solutions to our clients through the knowledge, creativity and dedication of our people. To achieve this Mission, our Guiding Principles of Client First, Teamwork, Integrity, Pursuit of Excellence, Accountability, Respect and Social Responsibility are at the core of everything we do. These principles drive each individual to be considered among the pre-eminent professionals in the commercial real estate industry. This Code embodies the foundation of our Mission and Guiding Principles. The following standards briefly describe the context in which we choose to operate and the standards of practice that together form this Code.
Standard 1 | We will act in the best interest of the client or other party with whom we have a professional relationship. We will honor our commitments, faithfully fulfill our obligations, and understand and apply our legal and ethical duties. |
Standard 2 | We will be honest at all times and with all parties and avoid exaggeration, misrepresentation, withholding or concealment of pertinent facts. We will timely provide information to our client that would not violate any duty of confidentiality. |
Standard 3 | We will honor our fiduciary duties and fulfill those duties with loyalty, obedience, confidentiality, good faith due care and accounting that we owe to each client that we have a professional relationship. |
Standard 4 | We will be sensitive to potential conflicts of interest and will yield our personal interests or that of our firm to the interests our client with whom we have a professional relationship. |
Standard 5 | We will document all Agreements and keep accurate records, and assure that all acknowledgements and consents are timely transmitted to the affected party. We will make sure all understandings are clearly and fully articulated to all parties. |
Standard 6 | We will not discriminate, or participate in any plan or agreement to discriminate, on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, gender handicap, national origin, familial status, age, sexual orientation or any other category defined as discriminatory by law. |
Standard 7 | We will obey the law and will conform to all real estate related professional and business conduct. When the party requires it, we will recommend the engagement of a legal counsel or other properly licensed professional. |
Standard 8 | We will be truthful in all representations and advertising, and will clearly identify our professional or business interest in any matter being promoted. Unless there is a legal or ethical violation, we will not withhold pertinent facts of which we aware. |
Standard 9 | We will not knowingly make any false or misleading statements about our competitors their firms, or their clients. In instances where our opinion about a competitor is sought, we will render our opinion in an unbiased and objective manner. |
Standard 10 | We will cooperate with other real estate professionals, except when cooperation is not in the best interest of the client. When authorized by the client, we will offer to share commissions or fees and timely disclose the terms related to the compensation. |
Standard 11 | We will respect the exclusive agency or other real estate professionals with their clients, and will not engage in any practice or action with such relationship that would cause a termination or such real estate professionals representational role. |
