The largest container ship ever to dock at a North American port is now at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro. It carries nearly a third more cargo that the largest ships that currently dock at the San Pedro Bay ports. Currently, the average container ship being built is nearly three times the size of the average container ships a decade ago.
